The Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Technology (FKTK), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) hosted a successful social innovation camp focused on polymer innovations in collaboration with Thaksin University. The three-day event aimed to foster knowledge exchange, innovation, and cultural understanding among students and staff from both institutions.
The camp had several key objectives, including providing practical knowledge and hands-on experience in polymer innovations, promoting collaboration and cultural exchange, encouraging the development of innovative ideas and solutions in polymer engineering, and discussing potential collaborations in research, student and staff exchanges, and other academic initiatives.
The activities commenced with a synergy meeting between Thaksin University and UniMAP's Polymer Engineering staff. Subsequently, the students participated in plastic processing lab activities, concentrating on compounding, various fillers, blends, and testing. Participants also engaged in a community CSR program at Kg. Tandiap, Kuala Perlis, which aimed to engage with the local community and apply their knowledge in real-world settings.
One of the highlights was the practical application of knowledge at SEAPLAST with Nuklear Malaysia, where participants gained invaluable hands-on experience. The camp also featured recreational activities such as kayaking at Kg. Wai Tunnel, fostering team spirit and camaraderie among participants. A casual BBQ dinner at Alumni Lake provided a relaxed environment for further cultural exchange.
The camp concluded with group presentations and a closing ceremony, where participants shared their insights and experiences. The event successfully facilitated an extensive exchange of ideas and practical knowledge between students and staff. It also provided valuable hands-on experience in polymer innovations and strengthened the network between UniMAP and Thaksin University, laying the groundwork for future collaborations.
Thank you and congratulations to the Polymer Engineering staff and students for their dedication and hard work in making this camp a resounding success.
