The Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Technology (FKTK), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), has further strengthened its collaboration with CIDB Technologies Sdn. Bhd. through the signing of a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), marking another milestone in a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing professional competency, industry readiness, and TVET excellence.
The collaboration builds upon a successful earlier initiative in which six FKTK academic staff received sponsorship to obtain the internationally recognised Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Ultrasonic Testing (WELD) SKKP ISO 9712 professional certification. The partnership is set to continue with an additional eleven academic staff participating in the next certification cycle, further strengthening the faculty's expertise in specialised industrial technologies.
Beyond staff development, the collaboration is expected to create significant value for students, particularly those enrolled in the Bachelor of Applied Science (Materials and Metallurgical Technology) programme, by enhancing teaching quality and exposing students to competencies highly sought after in sectors such as oil and gas, manufacturing, and engineering services.
During the visit, representatives from CIDB Technologies also toured UniMAP's TVET facilities, including the welding workshop, and expressed interest in collaborating to upgrade the facility into a CIDB Accredited Training Centre (PLB). If realised, UniMAP will further strengthen its position as a recognised TVET institution with multiple accredited laboratories and professional training centres, reinforcing FKTK's commitment to producing highly skilled, industry-ready graduates.
