Students from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Technology (FKTK), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), delivered an outstanding performance at the 17th Malaysian Chem-E-Car 2026, competing against 36 teams from local and international universities, including participants from Indonesia and India.
Represented by four teams, FKTK showcased strong innovation, technical capability, and teamwork in one of the most challenging chemical engineering competitions, where participants design and build chemically powered cars to complete specific tasks with high precision.
Among the highlights, Team Epsilon achieved an impressive 3rd Place in Car Performance and 7th Place in Poster Presentation, bringing home a cash prize of RM1000. The team comprised Venessa Sharon Hiew, Rifqah Syafinaz binti Rizal Shihanaz, Ho Zhi Yan, and Tan Yang Min, under the guidance of Dr. Lee, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Akmal, Mr. Mohamad Zaim, and Dr. Faiq.
Meanwhile, Team Dragon secured 9th Place in Car Performance, earning a consolation prize of RM200. The team members included Wong Zhi Ying, Cheong Jia Hui, Hng Wei Ren, and Lim Jia Sien, supervised by Dr Lee, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sam, Ts. Muhammad Izzat, and Ir. Nabil.
The achievement reflects the students’ dedication, creativity, and ability to apply engineering knowledge in a competitive and practical setting. Their success also highlights FKTK’s continuous commitment to nurturing innovative and globally competitive graduates.
