The Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Technology (FKTK), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), had the honour of welcoming a four-member delegation from the Department of Biology, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Indonesia, led by Prof. Dr. Awik Puji Dyah Nurhayati, Head of the Department of Biology.

The visit, held as part of UniMAP’s ongoing international collaboration initiatives, began at FKTK Jejawi Campus with an introductory session on UniMAP, FKTK, and ITS’s Department of Biology. Both institutions shared insights into their academic structures and research focus areas, highlighting the potential for synergistic growth in biotechnology and life sciences.

A key agenda of the visit was the final discussion phase of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the upcoming Dual Degree Master by Research program between UniMAP and ITS, aimed at fostering cross-border academic mobility and collaborative research excellence.

The delegation also visited several laboratories at FKTK, where they were introduced to the faculty’s advanced facilities, including a mini bioreactor system, which is not yet available at ITS but aligns with their expanding tissue culture research focus.

The visit continued at UniMAP Pauh Putra Campus, where the delegates toured the TVET Centre and Pauh Library, gaining a broader understanding of UniMAP’s ecosystem for research, learning, and innovation.

This academic visit marked another significant milestone in strengthening the long-standing partnership between UniMAP and ITS, paving the way for deeper cooperation in research, postgraduate education, and knowledge exchange.

FKTK looks forward to future collaborations that continue to bridge borders through innovation, research, and global academic excellence.
