The Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Technology (FKTK) was featured in a special live interview session on UniMAPINFO, the official TikTok platform of Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP). The session was organised by the Promotion and Marketing Department (PMD) as part of its efforts to promote academic programmes to a wider audience.
The Dean of FKTK, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Firdaus Omar, was invited as the guest to highlight FKTK’s newly introduced programme, Bachelor of Applied Science with Honours (Materials and Metallurgy Technology) – UR6521007. He shared insights on the programme’s relevance to industry demands and the career opportunities it offers to prospective students.
Also joining the session was Dr. Syarifah Nuraqmar Syed Mahamud, Programme Chairperson of Polymer Engineering, who further elaborated on the academic strengths and uniqueness of the faculty’s offerings.
FKTK extends its appreciation to the Promotion and Marketing Department (PMD) for providing the platform and opportunity to showcase the new programme to potential students.

The Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Technology (FKTK), UniMAP, welcomed a delegation of six staff members from the Division of Bioprocess Engineering Technology, School of Industrial Technology, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).
The session began with a discussion between both parties, focusing on benchmarking practices, curriculum enhancement, and opportunities for academic collaboration. This fruitful dialogue allowed for the sharing of expertise and exploration of potential joint initiatives.
Following the meeting, the delegation was brought on a tour of several FKTK laboratories to gain deeper insights into the faculty’s facilities, research capabilities, and teaching support infrastructure.
The visit not only strengthened institutional ties between UniMAP and USM but also reflected the shared commitment of both universities in driving academic excellence and innovation.

The Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Technology (FKTK), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), has reinforced its commitment to integrity and good governance through the successful organization of the Integrity Briefing and Corruption-Free Pledge (IBR) Ceremony.
The event featured an insightful briefing delivered by Puan Norain Rusyilawati Aziz, Deputy Chief Legal Officer of UniMAP, who highlighted the critical importance of integrity in higher education. She emphasized that integrity is not only the foundation of trust and professionalism but also an essential driver in producing graduates who are ethical, responsible, and ready to serve the nation.
Following the briefing, the Corruption-Free Pledge was solemnly recited and signed under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Firdaus Omar, Dean of FKTK, together with faculty members. The pledge signifies the collective determination of FKTK staff to uphold values of transparency, accountability, and zero tolerance against corruption.
Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Firdaus Omar expressed his gratitude for the active participation of faculty members in embracing this initiative:
“Integrity must be the foundation of all our actions. As educators, researchers, and administrators, we are entrusted not only with shaping the intellectual capacity of future engineers and technologists but also with upholding integrity in every decision and action. The Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Technology (FKTK) once again showcased its research and innovation excellence at International Innovation & Invention Competition Through Exhibition (ICOMPEX) 2025, bringing home a series of prestigious awards across various categories.
Among the highlights, the project Dual Functionalized Dolomite Nanoparticles – Revealing the Potential of Perlis Dolomite for Biomedical Application won Best Innovation (Class B: Construction & Materials), the Special Award for Intellectual Property, and a Gold Medal. Another innovative product, ClayNova EcoBag, also secured a Gold Medal.
In addition, several other projects successfully earned Silver Medals, including EcoPiSa Sheet, Bioguard Sustainable Tree Shelter Guard, Hypercool AZ91-CNT Engine Composite, Boosted Strength Zn-Mg Composites, GlowHerb AI-Enhanced Face Mask, and ECOJAC MB.
Overall, FKTK achieved 2 Gold Medals, 7 Silver Medals, and 2 Special Awards, a proud testament to the faculty’s continuous efforts in advancing impactful innovations.
