A fruitful two-way discussion took place between the management of Institut Latihan Perindustrian (ILP) Jitra and the Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Technology (FKTK), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), aimed at exploring potential collaborative opportunities.
The meeting highlighted key areas for cooperation, including the utilization of advanced equipment for teaching and learning purposes, certification of competency programs, the sharing of expertise between lecturers, and research collaboration between both institutions.
Both parties expressed enthusiasm about the possibilities, recognizing the mutual benefits that such collaborations could bring in enhancing the quality of education, training, and research output for both students and faculty members.
The faculty looks forward to developing a strong working relationship with ILP Jitra to further contribute to the advancement of knowledge and industry-relevant skills in engineering and technology.

The Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Technology (FKTK), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) hosted a highly informative seminar titled "Engineering Against Corrosion: Materials Design and Integrity Monitoring in Industrial Applications" on September 5, 2024. The seminar took place at the FKTK Taman Muhibbah, bringing together experts and participants from various fields to discuss key challenges and innovations in corrosion engineering.
The event featured distinguished speakers who shared their expertise and insights on the critical issue of corrosion in industrial applications:
1. Prof. Dr. Sammy Lap Ip Chan, a renowned Professor from the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at National Central University, Taiwan, and Honorary Professor at the School of Materials Science & Engineering, UNSW Sydney, Australia.
2. Ku Adri Azhan Ku Mohamad, a Staff Engineer specializing in Corrosion at Petronas Chemicals Fertiliser Kedah Sdn. Bhd.
3. Junaidi Che Halim, a Staff Engineer focusing on Inspection at Petronas Chemicals Fertiliser Kedah Sdn. Bhd.
The seminar was well-received by the attendees, who included students, faculty members, and industry professionals. The engaging presentations and interactive Q&A sessions provided a platform for meaningful discussions on how to tackle corrosion effectively in various industrial contexts.

The FKTK Student Association UniMAP successfully organized a University Social Responsibility (USR) STEM program in collaboration with Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Padang Melangit, Perlis. This initiative aimed to ignite and enhance interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) among school students.
A total of 30 enthusiastic participants from SK Padang Melangit took part in this enriching experience. The activities were held at UniMAP's TVET Centre, where students were introduced to various hands-on STEM exercises designed to make learning engaging and interactive. The program aimed to inspire young minds by exposing them to practical aspects of STEM, making the subjects more accessible and enjoyable.
In addition to the STEM activities, the participants were also given a tour of the Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Library UniMAP, Pauh Putra. This visit provided an opportunity for the students to explore the vast array of learning resources available and to experience the academic environment of a higher learning institution.
The USR STEM program successfully met its objectives, providing students with a unique opportunity to deepen their understanding of STEM fields and encouraging them to pursue these areas in their future studies. The collaboration between FKTK students and SK Padang Melangit demonstrated the positive impact of community engagement in education, fostering a sense of curiosity and passion for learning among young students.

The Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Technology (FKTK), Universiti Malaysia Perlis proudly celebrated a significant achievement at the SKPG 2023 Appreciation Ceremony, where it was recognized for attaining a remarkable 100% Graduate Employability (GE) rate for the year 2023. This impressive feat underscores FKTK’s commitment to providing quality education and equipping its graduates with the skills needed to excel in the competitive job market.
During the event, FKTK was honored with three prestigious awards:
1. Highest Graduate Employability Percentage Award
2. Second Place for the Highest Percentage of Entrepreneurial Graduates
3. Third Place for the Highest Percentage of Employed Graduates
These accolades are a result of the relentless efforts of the FKTK GE team, dedicated lecturers, and the students themselves who have demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and excellence in their respective fields.

The Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Technology (FKTK) recently concluded its highly anticipated Independence & Fitness Month 2024 in August, which was filled with various engaging activities that fostered both physical fitness and patriotic spirit.
Throughout the month of August, participants took part in a range of events including a bowling competition, Explorace challenge, badminton tournament, indoor games, and aerobics sessions. These events were designed to promote camaraderie, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle among staff while celebrating Malaysia's Independence Month.
The closing ceremony was a lively affair, featuring an energetic aerobics session that brought everyone together. The ceremony also included a prize-giving segment, where winners of the various competitions were recognized and awarded for their outstanding performances.
Congratulations to all participants and winners for making the FKTK Independence & Fitness Month 2024 a memorable celebration of fitness and unity. A big thank you to the organizing committee and everyone involved for their dedication and effort in making the event a success.
