Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) and Umpan Jaya Sdn. Bhd. has officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to collaborate on an innovative project titled "Resolve Leachate by using Mobile Microbial Fuel Cell with Sewage Activated Sludge at Rimba Mas Sanitary Landfill." The agreement, signed at UniMAP’s main campus, marks a significant step forward in environmental research and sustainable waste management practices.
Prof. Dato' Ts. Dr. Zaliman Sauli, the Vice Chancellor of UniMAP, and Mr. Jaafar Sadeq Dato’ Mohd. Noordin, the Director of Umpan Jaya Sdn. Bhd., were present at the signing ceremony. The project titled “Resolve Leachate by Using Mobile Microbial Fuel Cell with Sewage Activated Sludge at Rimba Mas Sanitary Landfill” will be led by Dr. Mismisuraya Meor Ahmad from Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Technologi (FKTK), UniMAP.
The MoA paves the way for future projects that blend academic research with practical industry applications. This partnership is expected to yield significant advancements in sustainable waste management, benefiting both the environment and the community.

The Festival Kebudayaan Antara Fakulti 2024 (FestKaf’24) took place over three vibrant days at the JKKN Perlis Auditorium. The Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Technology (FKTK) proudly participated in several categories, including poetry recitals, traditional Malaysian singing, lantern and kolam decoration, traditional Malaysian dance, and battle of the bands.
A notable highlight of the festival was Aida Adriana Sariman, a fourth-year Chemical Engineering student, being awarded Best Dancer for her performance in traditional Malaysian dance.
Congratulations and heartfelt thanks go out to all FKTK participants and the organizing committee from the FKTK Students’ Association for their hard work and dedication in making this event a success.
We hope to see even more FKTK students showcase their talents at future FestKaf events.

UniMAP, in collaboration with SMJK Chung Ling, Pulau Pinang, successfully hosted the University Exploration Program, welcoming 83 STPM students along with five accompanying teachers from the school's Form 6 department to the Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Technology (FKTK) campus.
The visit aimed to introduce UniMAP, with a particular focus on the programs offered by the FKTK. During their time at UniMAP, the students engaged in hands-on laboratory activities such as a static project and DNA fingerprinting for spider identification, providing them with a practical introduction to the university's science and technology capabilities.
In addition to the lab activities, the students toured the TVET Centre, the library, and various other parts of the UniMAP campus, gaining a comprehensive overview of the university's facilities and resources.
The event was graced by the presence of the Dean and several faculty members, who interacted with the visitors and provided insights into the academic and research opportunities available at UniMAP.

The Uniciti Alam Splash Run, organized by the FKTK Student Association in collaboration with the Deputy Dean of Student Affairs (HEPA), was a resounding success, with nearly 170 students participating in the event.
Participants enthusiastically took part in the run, enjoying the lively atmosphere and the spirit of camaraderie as they completed the scenic 5 km route amidst the serene greenery. The event aimed to promote fitness and well-being among students while also providing a fun and engaging activity for everyone involved.
A heartfelt thank you and congratulations go out to the Deputy Dean of Student Affairs (HEPA) and the student club for their hard work and dedication in organizing this memorable event. All participants had a wonderful time.

A Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) STEM program was successfully conducted at Sekolah Islah Perlis @ Teratak Rahmat on 8 June 2024. The program was attended by 53 students, school teachers, and staff from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Technology (FKTK), UniMAP.
This event aimed to promote STEM education and inspire young minds in the field of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The day was filled with various activities and interactive sessions designed to engage the students and provide them with practical STEM knowledge.
Special thanks were extended to all committee members who dedicated their time, effort, ideas, and sacrifices to ensure the success of this CSR STEM event. The program proceeded smoothly and adhered to the planned schedule. The kindness and dedication of the committee members are deeply appreciated, with hopes that their good deeds will be rewarded accordingly.
