A delegation from the Chemical Engineering Department, Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Technology, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) conducted a benchmarking visit to the School of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Nibong Tebal, Penang. The main purpose of this visit was to strengthen laboratory management practices and exchange insights on best practices in laboratory management between the two institutions.
The delegation comprised representatives from various divisions within the Chemical Engineering Department, including faculty members, researchers, and technical staff. The team from the USM School of Chemical Engineering extended a warm welcome and introduced them to the cutting-edge laboratory facilities on campus.
During the visit, they had the opportunity to interact with faculty members and researchers from USM, sharing experiences, ideas, and challenges in laboratory management. This provided them with a broader perspective in their efforts to continuously improve laboratory management standards within the UniMAP FKTK.
This visit is considered a significant step in strengthening collaboration between the two institutions and enhancing the quality of chemistry laboratory management at the university level.

In a proud display of community involvement and environmental responsibility, FKTK organized a highly successful plogging program, serving as a testament to its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), with 91 eager participants joining the cause.
The event, held on 4 March 2024 at Pengkalan Asam Trails Recreational Park aims to promote physical fitness while addressing environmental concerns at the same time by encouraging participants to engage in a unique form of exercise – plogging. Plogging involves jogging or walking while picking up trash and debris along the way, thus combining the benefits of exercise with an environmental cleanup effort.
The program begins with a light warm-up session to prepare the participants for the physical activity to come. Led by the Dean, the participants then embarked on a collective mission to pick up litter and tidy up the footpaths and river banks in the surrounding area.
The active involvement of FKTK staff not only contributes to enhancing the local environment but also cultivates a sense of ownership and responsibility for maintaining cleanliness and litter-free public spaces.
The success of the plogging program highlights the importance of community involvement and collective action in dealing with environmental issues. FKTK thanks all participants for their dedication and commitment to making a positive impact on the environment. Such initiatives serve as a reminder of the power of teamwork and cooperation in creating a cleaner and healthier community for all.

In a heartwarming display of community collaboration, the Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Technology (FKTK), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) joined forces with Masjid Al-Ghufran, Batu 2 Lama, Kangar, Perlis, to organize a unique University Social Responsibility (USR) initiative.
The program aimed to provide support to the local community, particularly the underprivileged, by offering donated items such as clothing, books, and various used household items through the 'Free Market'. Additionally, a lively coloring contest was arranged for the children of asnaf families, adding a touch of joy and creativity to the event.
Gratitude is extended to all UniMAP staff members who generously contributed to the event by donating clothing, books, and other essential items for the 'Free Market.' Special appreciation is also conveyed to the Project Director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Norainiza Saud, and the entire USR team for their dedicated efforts and commitment to serving the community.
The successful collaboration between FKTK UniMAP and Masjid Al-Ghufran reflects the university's dedication to social responsibility and community engagement. Research conducted by Dr. Noor Shazliana Aizee Abidin from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Technology (FKTK), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), has resulted in a collaboration with Syarikat YA Harumanis Maju Enterprise to develop Harumanis Milk and Chocolate products. This collaborative effort serves as a solution to address the challenge of surplus poor-quality and substandard Harumanis fruit produced by local farmers.
By leveraging expertise in food technology and innovation, Dr. Noor Shazliana Aizee Abidin and the research team at UniMAP have contributed to the development of value-added products using surplus Harumanis mangoes. Through this collaboration, Harumanis Milk and Chocolate products have been formulated, offering a novel way to utilize excess fruit and reduce food waste.
The partnership between FKTK UniMAP and Syarikat YA Harumanis Maju Enterprise underscores the importance of academia-industry collaboration in addressing agricultural challenges and promoting sustainability. By transforming surplus Harumanis mangoes into marketable food products, this initiative not only adds value to the agricultural supply chain but also benefits local farmers and contributes to the development of innovative food solutions for consumers.

15 January 2024 ; In a harmonious gathering, the Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Technology (FKTK) recently organized a Meet & Greet event for the year 2024. Attended by dedicated FKTK members, the session provided a platform for open dialogue and strategic vision for the future.
The highlight of the event was the speech of the Dean of FKTK, Associate Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohd Firdaus Omar. With enthusiasm, he presented a comprehensive overview of the faculty's achievements throughout 2023 and outlined ambitious plans for the coming year.
The Dean took the opportunity to reflect on the successes and challenges faced by FKTK in the past year. Acknowledging the collective efforts of the faculty, he emphasized the achievements made in academic endeavors, research efforts, and community involvement.
